Crazy Rich, Incredibly Broke (2026)

Netflix’s latest comedy, "Crazy Rich, Incredibly Broke," lands you right in the middle of the AlThahabi clan’s overnight financial nightmare. If you loved the over‑the‑top opulence of "Crazy Rich Asians" or the awkward charm of "Schitt's Creek," this film serves up a fresh, Arabic‑speaking twist on the ‘riches‑to‑rags’ formula. Helmed by Ahmed El Gendy and scripted by Bader Al‑Assaf and Ayman Wattar, the story follows the Saudi family from Riyadh as they scramble to conceal their sudden bankruptcy. Rather than confronting their new reality, they cling to the illusion of wealth, staging lavish outings and elaborate deceptions to keep up appearances in a world that expects them to sparkle. The ensemble cast leans into the absurdity: Rashid Al Shamrani commands the patriarch Sultan with dead‑pan authority, while Ghada AlMulla’s Alanoud dazzles as the socialite wife determined to preserve the family’s reputation. Ziyad Alamri’s bumbling aspiring actor Bandar and Ida AlKusay’s razor‑sharp strategist Reem add layers of comic chaos. Subtitles are a must for non‑Arabic speakers, but they’re worth the effort—this is a wild, laugh‑out‑loud ride through high‑society pretenses that will have you rooting for the AlThahabis even as they fake their way toward a real comeback.
