Teaser Trailer for Pixar’s GATTO Introduces a Feline Mob Boss, Missing Tuna, and a Cat Looking for Purpose

Disney and Pixar have unveiled the first teaser trailer and poster for Gatto , a brand-new animated adventure that trades the sunny coastline of Luca for the winding canals and shadowy alleyways of Venice, Italy. If this first look is any indication, audiences can expect a charming mix of comedy, heart, and feline mischief when the movie arrives in theaters next year. The teaser kicks things off with a funny interrogation scene involving a trio of cats and a suspiciously missing stash of tuna. What starts as a tense questioning quickly falls apart when everyone in the room becomes completely distracted by the light in the room. It's a simple gag, but it perfectly captures the playful personality Pixar seems to be bringing to this cat-centric world. The footage also introduces two of the film’s key characters. Mark Ruffalo l ends his voice to Nero, a scrappy black cat who has spent years navigating the maze-like canals and superstitions of Venice. Standing on the opposite side of the conversation is Laurence Fishburne , who voices Rocco, a ruthless feline mob boss with a grip on the city and a debt hanging over Nero’s head. According to Pixar, Nero has reached a crossroads in his life. After years of maneuvering through Venice’s feline underworld, he begins to wonder if he has spent his many lives making the right choices. The official synopsis reads:"In Gatto, after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy, Nero begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives. “Indebted to Rocco, the local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first." The project comes from Enrico Casarosa and Andrea Warren , the creative team behind Pixar’s Oscar-nominated Luca . While Luca delivered a heartfelt coming-of-age story set along the Italian Riviera, Gatto looks ready to explore a very different side of Italy through the eyes of a cat caught between loyalty, debt, friendship, and self-discovery. Pixar has built a reputation for taking unusual concepts and turning them into memorable stories, and a feline adventure set within the hidden cat society of Venice certainly feels like fertile ground for something special. The combination of gorgeous Italian scenery, mob-inspired cat characters, and Pixar’s signature emotional storytelling should make for a strong movie. Gatto is set to release exclusively in theaters on March 5, 2027. View fullsize
