Did You Know?
Eli Roth’s new slasher drips with AI‑enhanced gore
If you’re hunting fresh horror for a weekend binge, Eli Roth’s latest VOD drop, Ice Cream Man, should be at the top of your list. The film follows Ari Millen—best known for his turn on Orphan Black—as a seemingly ordinary ice‑cream‑truck driver whose sugary treats turn unsuspecting kids into blood‑thirsty killers.
Roth leans into the ultra‑gory playbook, delivering a riff on cult slasher Terrifier that’s as gruesome as it is inventive. In a bold, and somewhat controversial, move he even admitted to using generative AI to craft some of the film’s visual effects, giving the carnage an unsettling, hyper‑real edge that makes the terror feel fresh.
Ice Cream Man is now streaming on demand across Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube and most cable VOD services, joining a slate of new titles that include the comedy Spa Weekend and the ensemble misadventure Idiots. So grab a bucket of popcorn—just make sure it’s not the kind that turns you into a killer.
