Colony (2026)

Written and directed by Yeon Sang‑ho, the mastermind behind the genre‑defining Train to Busan, South Korea’s new zombie entry, Colony, plunges viewers into a claustrophobic nightmare. A rag‑tag group of survivors finds themselves sealed inside a building as an unidentified outbreak turns the infected into violent predators, turning every hallway into a pressure cooker of dread. What sets Colony apart is its razor‑sharp focus on paranoia and the creeping mistrust of technology that underpins modern life. Yeon harnesses the familiar thrills and gore that made his 2016 hit a classic, delivering relentless scares that keep the pulse racing, even if the film doesn’t quite capture the same human depth that elevated Train to Busan. Despite that shortfall, the film’s brutal, unflinching horror and tight, tension‑filled set pieces make it a satisfying addition to the 2026 zombie slate. For fans craving a fresh, terrifying take on the genre, Colony offers enough chills and visceral action to cement South Korea’s reputation as a horror powerhouse.
