Did You Know?
Pixar’s surprise hit Hoppers proves the studio still has the funny bone it’s famous for
When Pixar rolled out Hoppers in early 2026, the buzz was unmistakable. Directed by newcomer Piper Curda, the family‑friendly adventure follows a tech‑savvy animal lover who literally becomes a robotic beaver, blending wacky sci‑fi premises with heartfelt character moments. Critics quickly labeled it one of Pixar’s "funniest movies yet," and audiences responded in kind.
The film’s box‑office numbers back that praise: a modest $150 million production budget turned into a $388 million worldwide haul, cementing Hoppers as a commercial triumph after the studio’s recent stumble with Elio. Its success signaled that Pixar can still innovate without leaning on sequels, delivering fresh storytelling that feels both playful and emotionally resonant.
Hoppers also set the stage for a blockbuster holiday season, paving the way for Toy Story 5’s billion‑dollar run. Together, the two releases showcased Pixar’s ability to balance nostalgic fan‑favorites with bold new ideas, proving that the studio’s creative spark is very much alive.
