Adria Arjona Dodges Wonder Woman Casting Question at SDCC:"I'm Going To Go Now"
The speculation surrounding who will play Wonder Woman in the DC Universe isn't slowing down anytime soon, and Adria Arjona just added even more fuel to the fire. The actress, who is set to make her DCU debut in Man of Tomorrow , was attending San Diego Comic-Con to promote Adam Wingard's upcoming thriller Onslaught alongside co-star Drew Starkey. While DC Studios isn't making a major splash at Comic-Con this year, fans still managed to get one of the weekend's biggest DC-related moments thanks to a simple casting question. When Arjona was asked about the ongoing rumors that she'll play Diana Prince in the 2027 Superman follow-up, she didn't exactly shut them down. Instead, her first response was simply:"I'm going to go now," After jokingly pretending to leave the interview, Arjona continued to steer clear of confirming or denying anything. Rather than address the rumors directly, she took the opportunity to talk about her appreciation for James Gunn ."I love James so much. Funny that you ask. me that, James gave me my first movie ever," the Andor star enthused."The first movie I ever stepped on was a James Gunn and Peter Safran movie. They are family, and I am so happy to be part of the DC universe." Arjona didn't confirm she's playing Wonder Woman, but she also didn't deny it. That leaves the door wide open for the rumors to keep circulating. But, let’s be real for a second, she’s most likely going to be playing Wonder Woman. At some point, DC Studios may want to clarify the situation because, if expectations continue to build around Arjona suiting up as Diana Prince and she ultimately isn't playing the character, there's a good chance some fans will come away disappointed. For now, all we know is that Arjona has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow , but her role remains a mystery. Reports have pointed toward either Wonder Woman or Maxima, while other speculation has suggested Eva De Dominici could also be in the mix for one of those roles. Until DC Studios officially reveals the casting, it's all just educated guesswork. What we do know is that Man of Tomorrow is shaping up to be one of the biggest DCU movies yet. The story reportedly sees Superman forced into an uneasy alliance with Lex Luthor to stop Brainiac, whose attack threatens not just Metropolis but the entire planet. With Brainiac serving as the primary threat, it would make sense for multiple DC heroes to get involved. The so-called"Justice Gang" has been rumored to assemble against the villain, although the movie is still expected to keep its primary focus on Superman and Lex Luthor. Gunn has also complicated expectations by insisting that this isn't simply a sequel to his 2025 Superman , even though it continues Clark Kent's story. Meanwhile, the standalone Wonder Woman reboot remains in development, with Ana Nogueira attached to write the screenplay. Whether that's still the current plan remains unclear following the mixed-to-negative reception Supergirl has received from many fans and critics.
