Evil Dead Burn (2026)

Evil Dead Burn seized the No. 1 spot on HBO Max’s U.S. Top 10 list as of October 6, 2026, outpacing a varied lineup that includes Backrooms, Corpse Bride, Supergirl and The Shining. The surge arrived just days after its exclusive streaming debut on October 2 and a same‑night broadcast on HBO’s linear channel, following a strong theatrical run that pulled in $13.7 million domestically in its opening weekend and roughly $72.3 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček from a script co‑written with Florent Bernard, the film was produced by franchise veterans Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi and features Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright and Hunter Doohan. It follows a grieving woman who seeks refuge with her in‑laws in a remote family home, only to watch relatives transform into Deadites, delivering a “family reunion from hell” that delights longtime fans while polarising critics. Warner Bros. is already capitalising on the momentum, green‑lighting the sequel Evil Dead Wrath—directed by Francis Galluppi—for a theatrical release on April 7, 2028. The streaming triumph highlights the enduring appeal of the franchise and offers the studio fresh data on how horror sequels can dominate both the big screen and the digital arena.

The latest chapter of Sam Raimi’s iconic franchise, Evil Dead Burn, has blazed its way to the top of HBO Max’s streaming chart, proving the series still has a fierce appetite for new fans. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the film stands alone while weaving in the fractured lore of the Naturom Demonto, the dreaded Book of the Dead. It follows a group of estranged siblings who reunite at their late father’s estate, only to unleash a cellar‑bound recording and a cursed tome that summons the series’ signature Deadites. Fans of the ultra‑gory side of the franchise will find Burn delivers some of the most violent, sickening deaths ever seen in the series, a bar set high by its low‑budget predecessor. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have given it a solid 89%, while audiences are even more enthusiastic with a 92% approval rating. ComicBook.com praised Vaniček’s direction and the film’s wicked sense of humor, noting that despite a occasionally thin story and a finale that doesn’t fully land, Burn feels like a true return to form. The success of Burn comes after a decade of reinvention, from Fede Álvarez’s 2013 remake with its first female lead to Lee Cronin’s suburban tower‑block terror in Evil Dead Rise, which was hailed as one of the franchise’s best. With Burn’s momentum, the next installment, Evil Dead Wrath, wrapped filming in March but won’t hit theaters until April 2028, giving the new entry ample breathing room to dominate the horror conversation. As Halloween approaches, Evil Dead Burn offers both fresh blood and nostalgic dread, reminding viewers why the Evil Dead saga refuses to die. Whether you’re a longtime Ash fan or a newcomer craving extreme horror, the film’s chart‑topping debut signals that the series still has plenty of life left in its cursed pages.

The latest chapter of the legendary horror saga has found a new home on HBO Max, where fans are flocking to the gruesome tale of Alice, a grieving widow played by Souheila Yacoub. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the film thrusts her into a nightmarish visit to her late husband’s family, unleashing a cascade of supernatural terror that quickly spirals out of control. Evil Dead Burn proved its staying power at the box office, raking in $72 million worldwide against a modest $20 million budget. The sixth entry in the franchise even snuck a blink‑and‑you’ll‑miss‑it cameo from series legend Bruce Campbell, delighting longtime fans. After a six‑week theatrical run that peaked at fourth place domestically, the movie has transitioned to streaming and is now one of the most‑watched titles on HBO Max in the United States. Its streaming surge underscores a banner year for horror in 2026, joining surprise hits from creators like Markiplier, Nia DaCosta, and Sam Raimi’s own comeback with Send Help. As the genre continues to dominate both the big screen and digital platforms, Evil Dead Burn stands out as a fiery reminder that the franchise’s iconic brand of terror remains as potent as ever.

Directed by Sébastien Vanicek, the latest installment of Sam Raimi’s iconic franchise earned kudos for its gut‑punching scares and hands‑on practical effects, reminding fans why the series has never missed a beat. Critics, however, weren’t shy about the occasional misstep – the third‑act CGI felt out of place to some, and a few viewers called the film’s tone overly mean‑spirited. Even with those hiccups, Evil Dead Burn has become a streaming juggernaut this Halloween season. It currently sits at #1 on HBO Max worldwide and has cracked the top‑10 list on Netflix in several international markets, turning the divisive horror entry into a massive audience draw. The film’s performance underscores a long‑standing trend: the Evil Dead saga has never truly produced a flop. Produced by series legend Bruce Campbell alongside Sam Raimi, this year’s entry may be the most polarizing yet, but its strong streaming numbers prove the franchise’s staying power remains unshaken.
